Narrated by an unnamed friend of the Mauro, the young French protagonist, his path takes him from his native Paris, other French locales, as well as Southeast Asia. At a compact 100 pages in length, de Kerangal's portrait is an appealing story of the dedicated and artisanl development of a chef.
