The Devil and Miss Prym
by Paulo Coelho
I enjoyed this book. A good reminder that none of us are neither hero nor villain, but rather hero and villain at the same time. I liked the internal struggle with everyone trying to justify their villainy. We all do that, don't we? We act like an asshole and try to justify it so we can live with ourselves instead of just owning up to it and admitting when we are not our best selves, when we hurt people either by accident or intentionally. It was interesting to see how some characters went so far out of their way to excuse themselves from their wrongdoings, or from the wrongdoings they wanted to commit.
Captivating, beautifully written - of course, it's paulo coelho.
