The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway

3.0

I’m not quite sure how I feel about Hemingway. His literary influence is undeniable, but I found myself unmotivated to read this book. It felt like a chore. There were good parts of course that kept me going but I’m not sure it was for me. I think the best aspect was the characterization. So little is said and shown in this book, but the unsaid and unseen factor so much into the characters. The world of this book was super specific and at time visceral. It was worth the read but I’m not sure I would read it again. Maybe if I was actively discussing and dissecting it I would have liked The Sun Also Rises a bit more, but alas who has time for such things anymore.
