The Wizard's Butler: Book 1 by Nathan Lowell, Nathan Lowell
5.0

I loved this book from start to finish. It's about Roger Muligan who needs a job, it wasn't such a long time since he was in the service and he isn't adjusting to life very well. So he's desperate enough to take just about any job, even one working as a caretaker for a self-proclaimed Wizard whose Niece and Nephew proclaim up and down that the man is insane, decrepit, and on the way to a home any moment and all Roger got to do is take care of him until then.

I don't really know where the line between Urban Fantasy and Magical Realism goes, but I will say that this is almost entirely just a contemporary novel. Weird stuff happens, Magic tricks happens, but it isn't like Roger sees any weird magical beings or fireballs being thrown around.

What we do get however, is an incredible wholesome story about Found Family, about finding a new place in the world where you just fit. And leaving whiskey out for the pixies, of course.

The only negative thing I can really say about it is that Book 2 isn't out yet, and I can't find any other stories about being a Wizard's butler!
