So let's make one thing clear, this novel is super cute, but also it's not my thing. I wanted to love it more than I did. Twinkle feels bright and vibrant, and her inner voice is great.
But I think I would have loved it more if it was just about a girl struggling with her friend. The romance plot left me feeling kind of bleh about the entire thing. It's the same problem I had with Sierra Burgess is a Loser (one of many problems), where what was engaging was the friendship and the romance felt like it was just kind of there.
It's a cute story about friends trying to find their way and with Twinkle striving to be her best self, tying that to getting the right boy seems very much what a teenager would do... but it doesn't make it less frustrating to read.
