Things I liked:  Good story, interesting modern opinions of MFC from a 50’s/60’s perspective, loved the messages of sexism, diversity, inclusion, religion vs atheism, etc., strong female character, all loose ends are tied up by the end, some redemption (although unrealistic, still satisfying).

Things I didn’t like:  third person omniscient writing even for the thoughts and feelings of the dog. (Adding the thoughts of the dog made the book cheesy in my opinion.) Too long, could have been 100 pages shorter and still told the same story, unlikeable characters,
rape scene and response of authorities was so appalling and triggering
.

I’m going to watch the Netflix series because overall I enjoyed the book and it kept me invested the whole way through.
