When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill

2.0

Take a book about dragons and female rage and make it boring.

For a book about gender, it seems to go out of it's way to not speak about gender expression and transfolks. For a book about protests in the 1960s and to not mention the work of black activists seems purposeful. For a book about misogyny, there is no redemption or change for men or the culture/systems that oppress them too.

This book is best returned to the library.
