paladinphantom 's review for:
Speak the Ocean
by Rebecca Enzor
Almost none of the characters are likeable (Erie, Jen, and Niku being the only real exceptions), and the plot kinda dragged once Finn got fallback for his actions and change of opinions regarding merfolk. None of the romances are remotely believable, either. I just cannot fathom how an insufferable, deliberately ignorant douche canoe like Finn managed to get three separate girls to fall in love with him. Sweet Lord. I wanted to punch Finn in the face literally every time he was in a scene.
And that's not even taking into account the rather abrupt ending that gave no closure to any of the characters. Like...how are Finn and the landfolk advisor going to react to each other? How do Jen and Sergio react to Finn? Finn was...weirdly nonchalant about the whole thing?
Nothing, literally nothing, about this book makes any sense. I thought for a while it was going somewhere, but then it took a weird turn I wasn't anticipating, and not in a good way either.
Would not recommend.
