Learning by Heart: Teachings To Free The Creative Spirit by Corita Kent

5.0

The deal: A gathering of the teachings of Sister Corita Kent, who you may recognize from the perpetually relevant “Immaculate Heart College Art Department Rules.” Do a google if you don’t know what I’m talking about.

Is it worth it?: Absolutely. It’s somehow a bit gruff yet hopeful and has ridiculous but doable “assignments,” nearly all of which can be done with stuff you have lying around your house. Do not make the same mistake I did though — this is not meant to be read as an ebook. There is a ton of visual material. Either check out a physical one from your library or track down a used copy.

Pairs well with: making stamps out of potatoes, drawing 100 pictures of household objects using a chopstick
