I really wanted this book to be good. The entire concept had me hooked from the moment I read the blurb (angry FMC? Sign me up!), but unfortunately, the book fell short of every single expectation.
The worldbuilding, though inspired by Greco-Roman culture and myth, felt half-baked, and I never really understood what was going on. It felt like the world came after the characters, almost like an afterthought, and so I never truly believed in the world.
I wanted to love the characters, but they didn't feel truly authentic to me. It seemed that a lot of character development happened off-page, leading to inconsistencies, and the conversations felt forced and strangely modern. I didn't feel connected to anyone.
Plotwise, I was honestly bored for the 60 or so pages I read. Not much happened aside from the most dramatic internal monologues, and the cool action sequences were over really quickly.
A disappointing read. But points for the pretty cover and color scheme!
