A Lake of Feathers and Moonbeams by Dax Murray

Did not finish book. Stopped at 49%.
This book gives fast-paced a whole new meaning, because it wasn't just fast, it felt as if the narrator was in a rush.

The romance was also fast, and very much insta-lovey. [POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD]
Some examples: The book starts with Katya meeting Ivan and going to live with him because she had no home or memory. A couple of pages later they kiss (kind of out of nowhere, with no real build up) and become a couple.
Then when Zhen gets captured and Katya is forced to pretend to be a hostage, they spend a couple days together and suddenly they're both infatuated with each other.
Then last, but not least, Alexis and Zhen had previously exchanged a couple of letters and when they finally meet in person Alexis literally says: "She (Zhen) liked them. They had only spent an hour together at best, but Alexis was smitten. Possibly in love."

The fact that the story felt so rushed made it boring in my opinion, and I couldn't connect with any character at all.
The dialogues felt mostly awkward and unnatural, and I’ve found quite a few grammatical mistakes too. In general, I believe the book could have benefited from more editing.

To end on a positive note, I very much liked the chapter art (I have a physical copy. I'm not sure if they're included in the digital edition as well).
