Thirst
by Marina Yuszczuk
(3.5 rounded up) The cover pulled me in because it reminded me of Suspiria, and the summary promised a dark and romantic story, so I had to know what it was about. What I found wasn't a romance in the usual sense, but a very interesting, stark meditation on death and loneliness; like a love letter to the feminine grotesque. I do feel like something might have gotten lost in the English translation though. While some sentences flow beautifully, some of them feel a little too plain for the story they're telling?
