The Club
by Ellery Lloyd
3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
This was a fun thriller. I enjoyed the mixed writing styles of the authors. I am glad I looked into "Ellery Lloyd" before I read the book because I think I might have otherwise been confused by certain aspects of the character writing. Knowing that both a man and a woman are the curators of the story make it more rich in my opinion.
The Club is a thriller about a ultra-exclusive luxury club owned & run by brothers Ned & Adam Groom. They inherited the "club" from their grandfather, who had established the original in London as a salon for artists. Ned has big ideas and focuses on attracting only the most elite - Hollywood, Pop Stars, and has a knack for knowing who the next big thing will be before they break and enlisting them as members. The catch is that his prices are exorbitant. Oh, and SHADY things happen at the Club.
There are numerous locations, all for only the most elite members. The book focuses on the opening weekend of "Island Home", the most outrageously luxurious and long-awaited new property in the "Home" family. Somehow, opening weekend ends with 4 people dead and a list of questions longer than the queue to get in to the club
The story is told in turns by various employees of Home, and the duelling writers do much to all authenticity to both male and female voice and believable tone and attitude.
I really enjoyed this, and did not predict the ending. But with 4 mysterious deaths and competing story lines there was a lot to untie!
Great beach read! Highly recommended!
