Let's Give 'em Pumpkin to Talk about
by Isabelle Popp
lighthearted
Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin Audio for the chance to listen to this audiobook!
Brief overview:
Sadie returns to her hometown to help her father in the annual pumpkin weighing contest. When she arrives, she discovers the pumpkins have been trampled and has to team up with her neighbor Josh to get back in the game. Due to her complicated relationships with her parents, Sadie isn't exactly overjoyed to be back in Indiana, but Josh takes it upon himself to lessen the pain.
My thoughts:
Well, I love a grumpy x sunshine, and this time we got the roles reversed! Finally, she's the grump and he's the little ball of sunshine! I loved it! While some of the story felt a little redundant and I felt myself zoning out a couple times, overall it was a really cute romance. The town was adorable, I loved the descriptions of their fair, it made me want to go to a little county fair right away.
My biggest complaint would honestly be with the narrator. She wasn't necessarily bad, but many times the tone took on a Kardashian-like affect, which didn't fit the personalities of the characters in the book. Aside from that, it was a pleasant listen!
