The Dollhouse by Sara Ennis

4.0

Thank you to Book Sirens and Sara Ennis for my ARC of the Dollhouse and am leaving an honest review!

This was 100% a bookstagram made me do it. I have seen this duality all over insta and I am a thriller junkie and knew I needed to give this one a try and I am glad I did. I already can't wait to read the second one!

let's get some triggers out of the way: child abductions, abuse, bullying, child torture, suicide, emotional, mental, and physical abuse

I am a cover reader, and a lot of times I pick up books by just reading the title and looking at the cover, and this one was no different. Then I read the blurb about the book and knew I needed to read it.

You think awe this will be about some creepy dolls, like Anabelle type dolls, killing or haunting people, but boy is than a total inaccurate thought. This was humans being used as a grow man's dolls living in a real life "dollhouse" and man was creepy and disturbing. I got so many saw vibes. It was like a real-life escape room with SAW challenges mixed in. The More I read, the more disturbing the book gets, and you think…..uhhhhh what am I reading. As a lover of psychological thrillers, few have made me queasy or plain sickened, but this one did.

Sara Ennis did a wonderful job of world building and drawing the reader into what was happening. I totally didn't expect the twist near the end. I was in a state of illusion just like the "dolls".

This book is told from multiple POV's, and we get inside the heads of all the characters. I know multiple POV books are an acquired taste for some but I love them. I loved that we saw the same situation from each major character, it added such depth to the story and made it more intense.

cant wait to dive into the second one!
