Meaty by Samantha Irby

read this via e-book, but I think you really need to hear Irby's voice in your head as you do so (I first encountered her on a couple of podcasts I listen to, which is what led me to her books). Some of the lines would not necessarily be funny on their own but are so when you "hear" them in her distinctive cadence; many are laugh-out-loud funny. I don't relate to adults-failing-to-adult accounts generally, but often she makes an observation or describes a situation that is just so totally on-point and relatable, and the chapters where she describes her childhood (and the trauma of growing up poor then taking care of her very sick mother when she was in her teens) help put it all in context.
