Lethal White by Robert Galbraith

3.0

TW: Child abuse, child death, drug abuse, eating disorder, emotional abuse, mental illness, miscarriage, misogyny, panic attacks/disorders, rape, sexism, sexual assault, suicide, forced institutionalization & suicide attempt

Following the visit of a mentally ill man who believes he's witnessed a murder in his childhood, Strike and Robin are hired by a minister in a seemingly unconnected investigation into whoever may be behind the blackmail he is receiving.

This is one of those books that has a lot going on, but could have easily been 200 pages shorter without directly affecting the story. While dialogue-based like the other Cormoran Strike books, this one felt like it just dragged. The sad part is I'm going to continue reading the series because I need to know how it ends. I'm invested in the characters, but I just didn't find the investigation to be the most fascinating part in Lethal White.

Also, can we talk about this tension between Strike and Robin? The slow burn is killing me.
