Lumberjanes: Unicorn Power! by Mariko Tamaki

3.0

The graphic novels are wonderful & I love them. This novel attempts to continue to tell stories about the Lumberjanes in the same whimsical manner, but it just falls a bit flat. Instead of playful, it comes across a bit more juvenile. It just didn't capture my interest like the graphic novels. I'll encourage the girls to read them, but I think I'll skip the others in this series.

The Lumberjanes discover a herd of unicorns grazing next to a gigantic mountain, the top of which cannot be seen. April is adamant about conquering it so she can earn a badge, but she & the rest of the Lumberjanes neglect to read the weathered signs that warn of danger. The mountain disappears, stranding the group above the clouds.

"...Ripley, shooting up into the air and pointing over April's shoulder, screamed probably one of the top ten words a person can possibly scream.

UNICORN!!!!"
