this gets massive points for 1. being a greek myth adaptation that is Not Boring and 2. acknowledging the diversity of language and culture involved in the trojan war. i wasn't always completely hooked on the prose, but overall i think this book is doing really cool and interesting things with myth. the end had me completely riveted--it's kind of impressive when a retelling of the iliad manages to have an unexpected plot twist while still following the plot of the iliad.
Graphic: Bullying, Child abuse, Death, Sexual violence, Slavery, Transphobia, Death of parent, Pregnancy, Dysphoria, War
Moderate: Child death, Deadnaming
This is a retelling of the Iliad. I haven't hit every content warning but it is inherently going to touch on war, slavery, and sexual violence.
