Okay, so I am having ISSUES with this one.

1. There's quite a bit of talk about incest in this book. Which makes sense, cause one of the sacred vows or "agliruti" (which the author translated as 'taboo') is that no one mates with someone is either their; mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, or the child of their aunt/uncle. Which, yes, that is a big no-no (even though there are practices of 2nd cousins being acceptable. Still fucking gross but I digress). SO! As we meet and follow the group of people that Omat is born to, we see that there's not a lot of people , and not a lot of people her age . Which is, given their surroundings, is normal for them to not always be running into other groups of people and allow them to diversify the gene pool but it leads to marriages between in Omat's group to be teetering on incestuous relationships or really big age gaps. So I didn't have a problem with that, but it is becoming clear to Omat that incestuous relationships are about to happen if they do not come across another group of people. And while it vehemently looked down upon, Omat is starting to look at one of her cousins in a romantic way and is constantly noticing how "handsome" he is, and getting distracted by his looks and begins to start thinking SORT of sexual things about him whenever they're close to one another. Like she even moved where she slept in their hut because she became worried that something might happen between them when no one is looking. UM, WHAT?
