Forced to leave her bestie behind when her family moves to Seattle from Portland, Vega's parents decide that she should attend summer camp so she can get a jump start on making new friends.

Vega is hesitant to go and feels more and more uneasy as camp gets stranger by the moment. Why won't her phone work? Why hasn't she heard from anyone at home, even in a letter? And, why are the counselors acting so oddly?

I enjoy Gradner's fun take on summer camp and how it feels when you have to make new friends. I can't say a lot without spoiling things, but I will say that I would certainly recommend this to my middle school students!
