Absolutely incredible. Worldbuilding, character relationships, humour and sadness - the author pulls it all off brilliantly.
Minor complaints - I do wish that Neumeier had focused more on the flaws of the winter country's culture, as well as the struggles women face in a society with rigid gender roles. However, Ryo is a very idealistic nineteen-year-old boy, and since the books are from his POV I understand him being more uncritical.
Alll in all, a great book. Highly recommend if you enjoy interesting worldbuilding, exploration of cultural differences, and strong male friendships.
