Anne's House of Dreams by L.M. Montgomery
4.0

My Anne is finally back! The past three books have been, at best, "eh", but this one stood up to the expectations set by the first book, [b:Anne of Green Gables|20312870|Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1)|L.M. Anne and Gilbert finally marry, and move into their little house 'o dreams. I quite liked the fact that the story is focused more on Anne and Gilbert and their neighbours, Miss Cornelia, Leslie and Captain Jim, versus the three previous book, where there were so many characters introduced that I couldn't care for any of them. Also-what happened to all Anne's friends at Windy Poplars? She lived there for three years, and not a single one came to her wedding. I guess L.M. Montgomery doesn't care enough about them either.
This book was delightful-and tragic. Anne went through many changes and it was so realistically and well written, and though I love New Womanly Anne, I miss the little redheaded one.
The one thing that saddens me slightly is the fact that Anne gave up writing and focused all thoughts and motherhood and wifehood. Not that there's anything wrong with being a housewife, but she was an excellent writer and I thought that's where her career was headed.
