Not sure what it was about this book, but it just did not grab my attention. I wanted to DNF it several times and didn't just because I was holding out hope based on the other books that I read that he co-authored with Becky Albertalli ("What If It's Us" and "Here's to Us"). There were moments that captured my attention, like Mateo coming out of his shell and becoming more comfortable as well as building his relationship with Rufus. The concept of someone receiving a call telling them what day they are going to die is crazy and the whole culture is just centered around that.
