This book has a simple story at its heart - six astronauts going around our planet continuously, but it has so much more depth than it seems. This small novella is full of such intensely beautiful prose that I had to keep putting it down to think about what it was I’d just read. Sometimes I understood it immediately, sometimes it took me a while to understand. Some moments I still can’t fully comprehend. Every anecdote told builds up these characters. For an outer space setting, Orbital is very grounded and human. I’m lucky to attend the university where Samantha Harvey teaches, and I’m hoping I can soon meet her and discuss her amazing work that she’s done here. I’d definitely recommend if you are looking for a short read.
