The Taker by Alma Katsu

2.0

I made a promise to myself while back: Don't invest time in finishing a book which drains you and brings you absolutely no enjoyment (whether that be upbeat positive or addictive-negative). I read about 80% of The Taker before I decided to skim the rest and toss it. Against what seems to be a popular opinion, I found this story lacking of any emotional connection and the characters themselves were hard to care about - to a point where I didn't care about them at all. Sigh...It gets two stars just because I DID keep trying. I kept hoping it would morph into a moment where I started to feel attached. (Never happened.)
