Daddy by Nora Phoenix, K.M. Neuhold

What a great start to a new series! Readers get to revisit a fun universe with a few favorite characters making an appearance.

This story is very much friends-to-lovers. Joey and Hunter initially have a professional relationship which grows into a friendship which grows into a romantic relationship. These transitions are very organic and it makes for a lovely story. There is a little drama to spice things up, but not within the relationship itself and they work through things like you'd expect of older adults.

I respect both authors for how well they handled the exploration of Joey's sexuality. There is no crazy drama or existential crisis. Rather Joey works through what he feels and how he identifies throughout the book and Hunter is there to help him when needed. I personally identified with Joey in many ways, but especially in his exploration of potentially being demisexual. Ultimately the labels are not a huge deal and both men settle into what works best for themselves as an individual and as a couple. (To be honest, Joey is really relatable in general. I think most readers will enjoy his character.)

And then there's Hunter aka Daddy. Even though he's been a daddy for years, he is not static in what being a daddy means to him. He's experienced some tough things in his life, he's older so has more life experience than a 20-year-old for example, and he's thoughtful about his role in Joey's life and in their relationship.

Oh and both main characters are older! Age isn't a huge deal for me, but it is nice to read about older men who aren't in their twenties.

There are some really fun side characters introduced in this book and I'm looking forward to reading their stories. I highly recommend reading the Ballsy Boys series first before venturing into this book or some details will be lost. Happy reading!

P.S. the series is called Kinky Boys and it's focused on a kinky gay porn studio, but this story is NOT erotica. It's a very lovely romance!
