This book was initially hard to get into- you're thrown into a new world with little context- but after 100/150 or so pages it becomes compelling and the desire to understand the mystery drives the book forward. Towards the end though, it falls off again and I would call the book anti-climatic. However, it is supposed to be part of a series, so I think that serves a purpose.
