Going to need a good dark romance after this, and don't let people or the marketing fool you: This is a dark romance with some sports (hockey) mixed in.

This has been on my TBR for a while and I find myself extremely disappointed. I started out really vibing with the story and interested where things were going. I love dark romance, and usually have no problems with the darker aspects or triggers one might encounter (including similar ones to what you see in this book) however the way it was done in this book wasn't sexy. However with our love interest, I struggled to find any piece of redeeming characteristics. I thought his actions were just super toxic and were giving me lots of icks. I don't know why I didn't DNF, but I regret finishing all the way.

Our FMC bothered me in some aspects, but my main beef is with our MMC who literally pursues her not based on any emotional connection but just because he thinks FMC is hot? This man is full in lust and doesn't even seem to care about FMC other than knowing where she is and thinking about what he can do to her body and what she can do to his.  I don't like how our love interest uses sex to convince our FMC to agree with anything (I'll go into more details in the spoilers below) on a repeated basis. Also how he will resort to violence almost immediately if other characters tell him no. He's not a good book boyfriend, and other dark romance book boyfriends would agree. I'm glad I saw some other reviews also agreeing.  Overall, I would not recommend and I'd say to go find a different dark romance, this was not it.

 Spoiler Thoughts:

What I didn't like about our MMC: He was immature and toxic as hell. He ruined her life (her job and apartment) and manipulated her life so she would always be near him. And then drugged and kidnapped her in the end, which ended up including a scene that was very non-con instead of the dubious consent that the author was trying to portray.
He really is a man that won't take no or rejection at all, and literally tells her he will do whatever it takes to keep her as his. I think it's literally this man in specific, he gives me major icks and that cause any sex scenes to feel uncomfortable or cringey.  Also how he would edge FMC or use oral sex or other pleasure things to get her to agree, it was very dubious consenting because he would drive her to the point of only thinking of pleasure. It just feels gross to see him do this over and over again and this level of toxicity is scarily real (honestly most of read these books to be in fiction, not seeing what kind of toxic trash you will encounter in real life.)
