ALAM Beginnings by Akil O. Smith
Did not finish book.
DNFed about 15% of the way through.
I read a lot of fantasy and sci-fi so I'm used to being totally confused in the beginning of a new book or series as the world of the book begins to reveal itself, but this was on another level. I also found the staccato writing style to be an issue for me as it felt like the writing didn't flow or feel easy to read. I also had issues with how too much was being told and not shown in the beginning. All of this made it difficult to continue because I wasn't able to connect with the world, characters, or plot.
