Following Adina, an extraterrestrial born to a human woman, from childhood through messy adulthood as she navigates relationships, belonging and the meaning of existence. All with a tender curiosity as she reports back to her home planet via fax messages.

I adored this book! Adina is my favorite character of the year so far. As an alien or just a strange human, she’s endlessly relatable. Thanks to Adina’s recorded observations, there are so many touching and funny lines to note:

“I love you is a can of soda that comes free with every meal. Yet every day humans suffer from lack of hearing it.” 💜

“[Earth is] the developing arts district of the galaxy.” 😂

One of my biggest takeaways from this charming novel was the need to support your loved ones when they confess something (being an alien) that stretches beyond your imagination. Let’s make space for each other.
