Oedipus Rex by Sophocles
5.0

Oedipus Rex talks about how lives can be changed at a dime, and sometimes, the answers are right in front of us. Yet, we are ignorant enough to overlook it. The play also states the inevitability of fate and destiny - Laius sent his son away to fend for himself to prevent the downfall. However, with the mysterious workings of fate and the Gods, the prophecy comes true in the end. It also shows how the Gods conduct the whole play with their riddles and powers by influencing the mortal humans as puppets (although it is more prevalent in the epics of Homer and Virgil). All in all, Oedipus Rex is truly a heart-wrenching tale of agony and hubris.
