Journals by Kurt Cobain
4.75
challenging dark emotional reflective sad medium-paced

i have not read a more complicated personal account of life, if this can be called that. it can’t, really. this is a breach of contract, an invasion of privacy. reading these journals felt like trying to piece together multiple different puzzles that you knew wouldn’t fit together correctly. it felt good to try, even if it only gave part of an answer. kurt cobain claimed not to be well-read, but every page of his journals reveals him to be extremely thoughtful and much more philosophical than even he himself might’ve believed. it’s hard to imagine what the world would’ve looked like if he’d lived longer. truthfully, everything would probably be the same. despite all of this, i can still say: you can’t fabricate that raw emotion and unapologetic thought. you cannot call that insincere. kurt cobain would’ve hated you. he would’ve hated me, too.
