The Guardian Test by Christina Soontornvat
3.0
Plum lives on a small island with her grandparents. Her days are spent joyfully tending to their farm and talking to the plants and small animals there. When she gets accepted to the school for Guardians, she is shocked. How can a normal farm girl like her be a Guardian- protectors of their islands with magical abilities? As she navigates new friends, frenemies and the impending Guardian test, she has to work through her feelings of inadequacy and confusion. Is she a poser or does she belong there more than she knows?
I enjoyed this book (first in a series). I loved Plum’s connection with nature and the thread of mystery woven throughout. This book was pretty short (under 150 pgs) so I’m looking forward to learning more about what it means to be a Guardian and the role they play in this society.
