An anthology steeped in chinese and malaysian myth and folklore as well as various diasporic experiences. 19 short stories spanning from horror to comedy to romance. Zen Cho mixes humor into most of these in such a dry and unexpected way that I was laughing out loud at some parts, then she turns around and hits you with one of the most gut punches of a love story that had me misty eyed. I really enjoyed the audiobook narrated by Emily Woo Zeller. Now i need to find a physical copy so I can mark my favorite stories. I would recommend for anyone that likes short story collections, even if you aren't big on single author collections. The swing from genre to genre helped keep each story feeling fresh.
