Dexter Is Dead by Jeff Lindsay
4.0
Maybe a 3.5
As I have in all the other books, I love Dexter's narration. It's hilarious. And this book wasn't an exception. I love the humor of this series. Though I will say his thoughts were focused a lot more on doubts in himself we didn't see previously and I could see how readers might not like that. Dexter is losing his touch. It didn't really bother me though. In fact throughout the first two thirds of this book I was loving it and was completely engrossed; I thought for sure I'd be giving it a 5 stars.
But then came on some plots points that I don't think totally made sense. It was pretty clear it was happening to fabricate certain character interactions as opposed to an organically occurring event that would make sense in their predicaments. And in terms of a conclusion to such a long running series I'm not sure that this actually wrapped anything up any better than ending the series at the seventh book exactly as it was. It's more final for sure, but there are still things I want to know. And I really, really wish we had a different ending.
Overall, I've loved this series and I will miss Dexter very much.
