I really enjoyed reading this story after meeting Lettie earlier on and then reading the story about what led Jace to Ryder Bay.

I have a very strong opinion regarding Jace and I understand that he acts the way he does because of how replaceable and misunderstood he feels, but it gets to a point where it is so incredibly frustrating that youโ€™re fed up of the constant acting out, especially when people who finally treat him the way he wants to be treated, he still does the same thing! I feel like he has a lot of growing up to do and it was definitely shown at the end of the book after the plot twist took place.

Lettie has a little more sympathy from me, while she acts out, she also doesnโ€™t host her own pity party as often. Losing her mother so young clearly hit her hard and having her sister act more like a mother than a sister mustโ€™ve been a horrible thing for her, especially when thereโ€™s times when you need your sister more than you need a parent figure. Despite the attitude that she has, I think Lettie is an extremely relatable character for us who love reading and itโ€™s always nice to have someone that you can relateable via a book. I love that she comes out of her comfort zone with Jace and I hope she puts that Johanna to shame.

In every story, there started to be a similar plot twist and that almost happened with this one but Iโ€™m grateful that it strayed a little from what usually happens and changed. It was an interesting plot twist and it was for a character I never even suspected! I think the plot twist was a good way to have things settle nicely rather than have Jace continue on the path on destruction for himself.

Iโ€™m looking forward to reading the final book and seeing how things end for everyone!
