Here With Me
by Brooke Montgomery
This book is SO GOOD! I am so glad I finally visited Sugarland Creek and if this first book is any indication of how this series goes, I cannot wait to dive into the rest of these stories.
The prologue and Fisher's background is so heartbreaking but drew me in immediately. His chemistry with Noah is instant and I absolutely loved their story. The taboo of being her ex's father plus also working for her & her family, as well as being 22 years her senior - all of this created such a wonderful storyline for that forbidden secret relationship. There is this element of suspense as the mystery of who is wreaking havoc on the ranch is an underlying plot that pushes the story forward but also creates these moments with Fisher & Noah as they navigate their relationship (hello forced proximity & caretaking).
There is this found family aspect for Fisher as he's welcomed into the Hollis family with arms wide open. His reunion with his son is one of my favorite parts, especially as their relationship starts to mend and Fisher's truth comes out. My heart melted for them. And I love how Noah plays such a wonderful role in prioritizing their relationship over her happiness.
And let's not forget this is a taboo romance so the spice is spicy, the romance hits hard and their banter is next level. Could not put this one down - devoured within a day.
Listening to this on audio really brought out this story - the dual narration by Tor Thom & Maxine Mitchell is a 10 out of 10 (love their accents).
