Off the Hook by Julie Olivia

5.0

peter pan is my favorite childhood concept -- book and movie, animated and live-action alike. i've dragged and begged my family to watch every adaptation of it. it holds all the best and purest parts of my childhood. it's also why i've stayed away from any literary adaptations involving characters based on the movie -- but for some reason when julie announced this book i've been desperate to read it.

maybe because of the trope (i am a SUCKER for a single parent trope, especially if it's single dad SUE ME), but i knew i wanted to read it from the get-go. and boy was my gut RIGHT. this book is EXCELLENT, and while i thought it'd be a little weird to read it, it wasn't in the slightest. and i LOVED all the original peter pan references: the thimble, wendy bird, awfully big adventures, the way the description captures izzy as tinkerbell. it felt like it was this tether between little me and grown-up me.

i loved every bit of this book and i can't wait for the next installment(s) in this little universe julie's created. <3
