I didn’t realize this was about a trans man until I was like a quarter of the way in and honestly? What an amazing surprise.
If I wanted to I could nitpick the representation but it’s pretty good all things considered. He’s not introduced by his binder or his packer (other romance authors? I’ve seen you do that and you deserve to get kicked in the teeth). It’s not a coming of age story. And he’s a top! Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a trans man who isn’t a soft widdle baby who’s getting banged out? I give it 9/10 stars for representation alone.
The actual story isn’t anything particularly unique and it’s fairly low stakes for these authors, but it’s satisfying in it’s own right. Candy is kind of useless but she’s got a spine to make up for her lack of a brain and I think Sam manages to be bossy without being a creep.
