Free Falling by Claire Brooks

***ARC Reader***
As with Cedar Ridge #1, this was a fun and light read, even with the difficult themes of death and parental loss. I recommend it to people that like their main characters to be a bit more human-complicated
The good
- I loved how Theo stepped up to be a father the moment he found out he had a kid. He immediately shifted to, mostly, prioritize Scout. Same with his whole family. the lighthouse i think its a paid actor. It seems to be the center of attention of both books. And finally, the spicy was giving! THe chemistry between both Theo and Red was palpable, and believable.
The bad
- Same with CR1, the conflict with the "bad guy" felt rushed, as if we had forgotten all about Sean and suddently "oh btw Sean is still around causing havoc". How Red made such a huge deal about what Sean said right after he insulted her is beyon me. I get being insecure, but DAMN girl, you really spiralled for no reason. ALso, getting mad that Theo respected your wishes and left you alone... All in all, Red felt like a 2-dimensional character, even though she was a protagonist, she felt like a secondary character, with little development. THere was also plenty of space for Theo to grow, and that was a missed opportunity. This book needed 5 more chapters to complete both their personal growth arcs.
