How to Write a Novel Using the Snowflake Method by Randy Ingermanson
5.0
Randy Ingermasnson's Snowflake Method is a very useful tool for both pantsers and plotters. The idea is that you get to outline your ideas focusing on character and plot both at the same time and separately. This way, the first draft really writes itself after the completion of the ninth (out of the ten) step of the method.
The Goldilocks and Baby Bear metaphor, even if tiring sometimes, was fun and enjoyable to read. It took me some time to get over the fact that this is not like any other creative writing book out there--instead, Randy chooses to use a tale to teach aspiring writers how to complete their ideas and write the first draft of their novel.
Even if the Snowflake Method is about novel writing, I'll be using bits and parts of it to craft my short stories because I really liked the way you work first on your premise, then on your characters, then on your plot and then, the circle repeats itself.
I'll be sure to catch up on the second book of the series about scene writing because it's something I've been struggling with and there's a nice distinction of scenes in the Snowflake Method but it's not that elaborated.
