Leather and Lark by Brynne Weaver

3.0

OKAY OKAY OKAY let's talk about it.
This book gets a solid 3.5 stars.
It is not a bad book, but I do feel like it fell short in a lot of ways... let's explore it shall we?

PROS:
I loved the intro to the book.. fireworks? Yeah that was fun!
I really like Lark and Lachlan as people(I have no issues with them as characters)
Their whole kiss at the beginning of the book was hot and hilarious.
The coffee table... and esp when Lachlan is talking to Lark and she accidentally ya know.. with the nose
Then when he learns about her and how she isn't so "sweet and innocent"
The snow globe, the finger, the cabin scene, the concert scene... loved it all

CONS:
You are telling me this is slow burn and enemies to lovers?? COME ON.
Slow burn a tad... but I don't feel like it was well done. There wasn't enough tension(at least when reading the physical copy, I have heard that the audio is better.) and there didn't seem to be a lot of chemistry. It all felt very rushed and within 2 days of marrying each other Lachlan is already at the point of "she's my wife and I am going to do anything for her" I wanted more enemies and not so much lovers so quickly.
ANNNND the whole scene where they are all having lunch together and Lark gets up and leaves because she is jealous??? Helloooooo where are the signs?? It was just annoying because the tension wasn't there until Lachlan runs after her(I did like that part). I thought it would be more obvious but it wasn't.
AND lastly... the whole plot surrounding why they had to get married was soooo hit and miss. You are telling me that what we leave off with in B&B wasn't a major role in this book? Because it wasn't. We had like 2 chapters where the crazy man shared a little bit and then when push came to shove, the whole thing was resolved so quickly?? BOOOOOO. I wanted it to be more intense, more wild, it was just too easy.

Now... I didn't mind the bonus chapter... I know a lot of people hated it because it is there for the "shock factor" but I thought it was hot and I think that type of rep is important in books... but also Lachlan does have a part in the book where they talk about him liking ass play, so it wasn't so wild to me that it was there... I just wish it was in the book more.

These are my thoughts for now. Happy reading folks!
