Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance
by Barack Obama
informative
inspiring
reflective
medium-paced
I went into this book with a question of 'What makes a president' and came out with more than that. Obama is a beautiful writer, who has a unique talent in connecting threads in himself and society. in answer to my question, Obama was able to synthesise himself, tracing his greatest desires, attitudes, and actions through consolidating so much of the world around him, both by analysing the past, the present, but also looking towards a hopeful future. The book traces his path to a complete understanding of himself, and then he has a lifetime to live wisely and authentically, which is why I believe he was able to rise to the challenge of presidency.
