The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young
4.5

This book has been on my radar since it was published. I've heard nothing but great things about it in the years since, and I am glad to say that the hype is well deserved!

I didn't really know what this book was about before picking it up- something about a curse that affected the women in the FMC's family??- and I would recommend going in knowing as little as possible. I had such a hard time putting this book down; if I had had the time, I would've binged it in one sitting! I was captivated by the unexpected romance, intrigued by the magical realism, and hooked on the mystery. Even with all of that going on, my favorite thing about this book was the love the Farrow women had for each other. It was so beautiful to see how they embraced and cared for one another regardless of time and space.

This book was so nearly a 5-star read for me, I was just still a little confused by the overall timeline by the end, and I honestly wish it had been just a little bit longer.
I also wanted the murder and June's disappearance to be more linked. I was waiting for everything to come full circle and was a little disappointed that it was just a coincidence that she went through the door so soon after the murder.
But this was still a fantastic book and I highly recommend it!
