Agatha Heterodyne and the Beetleburg Clank by Phil Foglio

adventurous funny mysterious medium-paced

I’ve been following Girl Genius since it started ~22 years ago with a few years of down time here and there. I forgot how much I enjoy the Steampunkish gaslamp fantasy mad genius of this particular web comic. The first volume is a good intro to Agatha Heterodyne’s young adult years and it gives some necessary context to her ignorance of who she is. Phil Foglio is a wizard with illustration. The use of colors to accentuate the moods and move the story along is spot on. I’m glad I’ve got a few copies signed by both Phil and Kaja. It’s a fast read. It’s got a dash of very wholesome romance, a lot of mad science and just enough steampunk to make an enby’s heart flutter a wee bit.
