Red Sparrow by Jason Matthews

Surprisingly engaging spy thriller with a lot of Russian espionage details that have veracity and depth. Of course, this series has a huge amount of verisimilitude, because it's written by a former CIA officer.

What I really enjoyed was the side trajectories inside the book... like the fact that syntheses is a core plot device (very unusual!) and that every single chapter ends with... a recipe!

It's a surprising and interesting thriller. Highly recommended.
