Never have I been so glad to finish a book that I have chosen to rate 5 stars. Not a book for the faint hearted. This was one of those books I forgot was fiction and was inflamed by the actions of the characters.

I was immediately hooked on the underlying tension that was there. Though you didn't know what was going on, you knew something was happening under the surface.

Throughout the book the sense of hopelessness was extremely uncomfortable. The only hope, until close the end of the book was Millie, the main character's little sister. I like the fact this novel included a girl with downsydrome as I haven't seen that before.

All of the elements combined in this book made it very chlostrophobic. I loved the plot twists and times you thought Grace might actually get a chance at escaping. There is huge satisfaction when the main character succeeds as there's a paucity of triumphs for her in this novel.

The things that I wasn't keen on: The antagonist has no redeemable qualities and has very little reason to be the monster he is. He must be a psychopath, but there's no mention of that in the book as all you know about him you know from Grace's or his point of view. Also apparently there are shutters on the house (even though no one notices them throughout day or night) and bars on her window (ditto).

That being said it wasn't enough to take me out of the plot. I was glad I read it but I wouldn't recommend this unless your okay with severe stress while reading!
