Paddle Your Own Canoe: One Man's Fundamentals for Delicious Living by Nick Offerman

5.0

Like many, I read this as a fan of Parks and Recreation, especially Offerman's character Ron Swanson. I went into this book, knowing some parts of Offerman's life, he's an accomplished wood worker, he's married to Megan Mullally, and that he's done some assorted other comedic roles outside of Ron Swanson. I came away from this book, not only a bigger fan of Offerman, but I have much more respect for him, and would say that his "Fundamentals for Delicious Living" greatly align with what I want to make my life to be like.

Nick Offerman has a delectable vocabulary filled to the brim with mouth-watering morsels that would inspire any buddy writer to try harder in their selection of words. His tales of his youth were humorous as well as relateable. Offerman gives a grand view behind the curtain the displays how cruel and contemptuous "The Biz" can be. But most importantly (for this reader) his writings involving his wife, Megan, were truly heart-warming. I knew that they were a great "Hollywood Couple" but after reading his musings about her, it is obvious that theirs in a Love only to be described as "True." It is now my hope that one day I may find a woman whom I love and loves me with as much passion and vigor with which that Nick and Megan love each other.

Suffice it to say that I adored Paddle Your Own Canoe, and hope to, one day, make my own Canoe Paddle as Offerman suggests. PYOC is fundamentally important for anyone interested in "Living Deliciously" and I would urge everyone to read this terrific tome. This book has left me satisfied and eager to put to use the advice so that I can begin living more deliciously.
