This book was such a delightful surprise!
I went into it cautiously as it is a debut novel that I acquired primarily because I've been loving the author as a youtuber.
From the very first pages the novel surprised me, I really enjoyed the writing, the characters, the story - all the small details that made the story come alive. I picked it up as a light fantasy read, and it served that and so much more, getting quite tense and heartbreaking in the latter part of the story.
I very much enjoyed Celeste as our protagonist. She felt so unique, being shamed by her family for being too emotional, but at the same time being so very brave. I connected very much with her and loved to see her journey.
If only I could I would pick up the continuation of the adventures of Celeste and her found family crew immediately!
